One of the first big decisions you’ll make is your venue. And honestly, it sets the tone for everything. The pace of the day, how it flows, how it feels, and how your photos come together.
There are a lot of beautiful venues out here, but not all of them feel the same once you’re actually in it on a wedding day.
These are a few of my personal favorites. They’re all spaces I’ve worked in, and each one stands out for different reasons.
This one is always a yes for me.
You’ve got views of the Dakota Hogback, those classic red rock formations, and it still feels close to everything since it’s right in Morrison. It’s one of the more convenient venues out there without losing that Colorado feel.
Everything flows really well here. You’re not running all over the place, and it’s easy to step away for a few minutes, get what you need, and get back to your people without disappearing for too long.
There’s also a moment as the sun drops behind the hogback where the light gets really bright for a bit. It’s something I always keep in mind when building a timeline, because if you know it’s coming, you can work with it instead of fighting it.
And Gregory and Lawrence are genuinely great to work with. They keep things moving, they care about their couples, and it shows in how the day runs.
This one is a bit of a hidden gem.
It’s newer, tucked away, and still really convenient since it’s right in Sedalia. You get that quiet, mountain feel without sending your guests on a full adventure to get there.
It runs May through October, and it really shines in that window.
This is a great fit if you’re planning something smaller. It doesn’t feel oversized or overdone. It feels intentional.
The views are incredible, but what I like most is the pace. It’s not chaotic. It’s not rushed. You can actually slow down and be present, which changes the whole feel of the day.
This one is going to be special.
Located in Lake George, it’s more tucked away, but that’s part of the draw. It feels like a true getaway, not just a venue.
They’ve got glamping tents on site, a 4,000 square foot event center, and it’s set up in a way that actually supports a full wedding weekend. You’re not rushing in and out. You’re settling in with your people and staying a while.
It’s also pet friendly, which is always a win.
The property borders national forest land and is close to Eleven Mile Reservoir, so if you’re into the outdoors at all, there’s a lot you can build into your weekend beyond just the wedding day itself.
This one feels like you’ve stepped away for a minute in the best way.
It’s out in Bailey, tucked into the mountains, and once you’re there it just feels quiet and a little more private. Not hard to get to, but far enough that it actually feels like a getaway.
They’ve got two reception spaces and a few different ceremony spots, so you’ve got options depending on how you want the day to flow.
There’s a pond, horses on the property, and plenty of space without it ever feeling spread out or chaotic.
My favorite part though is the outdoor dance floor with the big fireplace. It’s such a good setup, especially right around sunset. It just feels different out there.
This one has a completely different feel.
Originally built in 1917 as a summer home and hunting lodge for Charles Boettcher, it’s got that old stone, tucked-into-the-mountains kind of vibe that’s hard to replicate.
It sits right on top of Lookout Mountain, so you get those sweeping views, but it’s still really easy to get to since it’s just off I-70 in Golden.
The setting is what really makes it though. Surrounded by forest, it has this quiet, almost fairytale feel without being over the top.
It’s also owned by Jefferson County, which makes it a surprisingly affordable option compared to a lot of venues with this kind of character.
I’m also a preferred vendor here, which just means I know the space well and how the day flows, and that always makes things easier on a wedding day.
This one leans more elegant.
The mansion has been home to some of Colorado’s most prominent and wealthy families over the years, and you can feel that history when you’re there. It’s refined, but not in a way that feels stiff.
The gardens are stunning, and everything feels really intentional and well-kept.
What I like about this one is that it gives you that elevated, classic look, but it still feels comfortable. You’re not walking on eggshells all day.
And if you know the area, it’s kind of wild to think this used to be all ranch land. It still holds onto a bit of that history, even with how much Highlands Ranch has grown.
This one just makes things easy.
It’s right in Littleton, super convenient, close to hotels, and you’re not asking your guests to commit to a full mountain drive to get there.
The gardens are what really make it. There’s a lot of variety, so you’re not stuck in one look all day, and everything is close enough that you’re not disappearing for an hour just to get a few photos.
It sits right along the South Platte too, which adds a completely different feel than a lot of the mountain venues out here.
I’m also a preferred vendor here, so I know the space well and how to move through it without slowing things down.
It’s not just how it looks online.

The right venue makes it easier to adjust, and the right photographer knows how to work with whatever shows up.
